A WESSEX GUIDE TO BAIT GATHERING

 

This code is designed to safeguard your fishing, and to preserve the Marine Environment.

 

1    Local Bye-Laws and Regulations must be observed, except where they are Contrary to Rights under “Magna Carta”.

2    Gather only what you need, to ensure future supplies of Bait.

3    Back-fill all holes, for safety, and to maintain the inter-tidal habitat.

4    Replace all turned rocks and stones. This will preserve the food chain.

5    Do not dig around Moorings, Slipways, Sea Walls etc.

6    Beware of tidal hazards and conditions, ie Soft Mud, Quicksand, Tidal Flows, Fog and adverse weather conditions.

7    Do not disturb nesting birds.

8    Take all your litter home.

9    Tell someone where you intend to dig for bait.
